Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada lost on Friday after allowing three runs on seven hits (one homer) with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings against Oakland.
Spin: Estrada (2-4, 5.25 ERA) hasnâ€™t won in his last five starts. He has a 5.14 ERA over 28 innings during that span, five home runs allowed (1.6 HR/9). Fridayâ€™s outing was his most encouraging by far. For the first time in nine starts this season, he didnâ€™t allow a walk, and he reached a new season high with 108 pitches thrown. Blue Jays righty Marco Estrada lost after allowing four runs on seven hits (one homer) and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings Saturday vs. the Red Sox.
Spin: Coming off six scoreless frames in his previous outing, Estrada was unable to keep the momentum going against Boston on Saturday. He allowed three runs during the third -- including two on a homer by Hanley Ramirez -- and gave up another run in the sixth, causing his ERA to rise 5.32. Estrada has now allowed 10 homers in 44 innings and has only had two starts in eight outings where he did not yield a home run. He'll try to keep the ball in the yard when he faces the A's at home on May 18. (více...)
