Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez took the loss on Monday after giving up four runs on six hits (one homer) and two walks with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings against Seattle.
Spin: Rodriguez (4-3, 3.89 ERA) has struggled as of late, going 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA in his last three starts. He’s allowed six homers during that stretch, including Monday’s 415-foot home run by Kyle Seager, which had an exit velocity of 104.6 mph, per Statcast. His seasonal home run rate has now jumped to 1.38 HR/9. Rodriguez’s next start is scheduled for July 30 against Kansas City. (více...)

BOSTON â€” Home plate umpire Chris Segal is remaining in the game after getting hit in the head by Josh Donaldson's bat in a game between the Blue Jays and Red Sox.Donaldson was the third batter in the game Monday night at Fenway Park. He took a swing at a pitch from Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez and lost the handle on his bat. It flew behind him and hit Segal on the top of the head, and the umpire crumpled to the ground.
