Alex Wood (back) will visit a doctor after experiencing renewed soreness in his back.
The left-hander was supposed to make his first minor league rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, but he was unable to throw his scheduled bullpen session on Tuesday due to the lingering soreness. Wood has been facing hitters lately and will throw a bullpen session Tuesday at Louisville before returning to game action Thursday. The veteran left-hander has been sidelined all season with a back issue that's caused numerous starts and stops, but it looks like he could join the Reds' rotation relatively soon if he continues to progress.(více...)
Alex Wood (back) threw 21 pitches to three hitters Tuesday at Great American Ball Park.
It was his first mound work against hitters since he went down with a back injury at spring training. "It felt good to be on the bump, man. It felt really good," Wood said afterward. "Itâ€™s been a long time coming, and Iâ€™ve been feeling really good." The left-hander will do a similar workout on Friday and could then be cleared to head out on a minor league rehab assignment.
