Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., who's been dealing with arm fatigue, will throw another bullpen session in a couple of days, manager A.J. Hinch said Sunday, and won't start on Tuesday as had been hoped. Collin McHugh will instead start the series opener against the White Sox.
Spin: McCullers, while playing catch in the outfield prior to Tuesday's game, reported some arm soreness to team trainers and was promptly scratched from his scheduled Wednesday start. He has been on the disabled list twice this year with back discomfort -- June 9-24 and July 31-Sept. 6. When he returned on Sept. 6, McCullers held the Mariners to three runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings, but he hasn't started since. (více...)

McCullers (arm) will throw a bullpen session this weekend, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
McCullers was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday due to arm fatigue, but he is apparently feeling good enough to try and throw again over the weekend. The Astros won't be in any hurry to rush McCullers back into the rotation, but if he feels better after throwing over the weekend, he could start for the club again at some point next week.
Mike Fiers Suspended 5 Games for Throwing at Luis Valbuena's Head

Major League Baseball announced Thursday that Houston Astros pitcher Mike Fiers was suspended five games and fined an undisclosed amount for throwing at Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Valbuena.Â
The incident happened during Wednesday's contest between the two teams.
According to the announcement, Fiers will not appeal his penalty meaning the suspension will begin Thursday.
Jake KaplanÂ of theÂ Houston ChronicleÂ noted Fiers was only pitching in the first place because Lance McCullers Jr. was out with arm fatigue. Fiers proceeded to allow five runs in the first inning, two of which came on a home run from Valbuena (více...)
