Washington Nationalsâ skipper Davey Martinez expressed some concern about reliever Kyle Barraclough after the right-hander struggled in yet another appearance in Saturdayâs game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Barraclough took the mound with the Nationals trailing 6-3 in the eighth and surrendered a leadoff single, threw a wild pitch, gave up a two-run home run, and then walked one batter and gave up another hit before he was replaced on the mound by Tony Sipp, who gave up an RBI double that drove in one of the two runners he inherited. Nationals placed RHP Kyle Barraclough on the 10-day injured list with right radial nerve irritation.
The radial nerve is in the biceps area. It's not clear how long Barraclough might be sidelined, but the Nats figure to take their time with him given his struggles this season (6.39 ERA).
Stephen Strasburg gave up more home runs (4) in five innings this afternoon than he gave up in his previous 10 starts and 68 1â3 IP, and the nine hits total he allowed were more than heâd given up in 65 outings going back to August of 2016. Strasburg gave up six runs total before he was done for the day, and the Nationals never recovered in what ended up a 10-3 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Washington, D.C (více...)
