Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run in Wednesday’s 8-6 loss to Texas.
Spin: Cruz clobbered a fastball from Andrew Cashner in the fourth inning for his 54th barrel of the year. Statcast measured the homer at 417 feet, with a 111.8-mph exit velocity. The 37-year-old continues to defy Father Time, as he’s now hit 161 home runs combined over the last four seasons. Nelson Cruz went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, two RBI and four runs scored as the Mariners thumped the Rangers 10-4 on Thursday. Cruz was an unstoppable force in the middle of the M's lineup, doubling in the second, reaching base by HBP in the third, doubling again in the fifth, chipping in an RBI single in the sixth and homering in the seventh before manager Scott Servais decided Cruz had done enough for one day. Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored in Thursday’s 10-4 win over Texas.
Spin: Cruz was on fire in August, batting .341/.413/.747 with 10 homers and 24 RBIs. He had cooled off a bit in September but busted out of his mini-slump with his first four-hit game of the season. Cruz hit his 52nd barrel of the season in the second inning -- a double to left field with an exit velocity of 117.8 mph, according to Statcast. Fantasy owners should expect Cruz to keep hitting through the end of the season. (více...)
