Jean Segura scored the go-ahead run from first base on Guillermo Heredia's one-out double into the right-center-field gap in the 10th inning, as the Mariners topped the A's, 3-2, in Tuesday night's series opener. Oakland starter Trevor Cahill tossed seven strong innings, but Seattle's Mike Zunino hit a game-tying two-run homer in the seventh. Edwin Diaz worked a perfect 10th to close out the win. (více...)
Cahill holds Mariners to two runs in seven innings
(DNES 23. 5. 2018, 07:35:22, mlb.com)
A's righty Trevor Cahill did not receive a decision Tuesday after allowing two runs on four hits (one homer) and two walks with three strikeouts over seven innings vs. the Mariners.
Spin: Cahill was cruising along with a 2-0 lead before allowing a game-tying homer to Mike Zunino with one out in the seventh. The veteran spent the minimum amount of time on the 10-day DL with a right elbow impingement and has allowed five runs in 12 innings since returning to action, so the injury doesn't appear to be a concern at this point. He owns a strong 35-to-9 K/BB ratio with a 60.4 percent ground-ball rate in 36 innings this season, giving him a good chance to remain effective. The 30-year-old is scheduled to take the mound again May 26 vs. the D-backs. (více...)

Trevor Cahill gave up just two runs over seven innings in a no decision against the Mariners on Tuesday. Cahill walked two and struck out three. The only blemish for the veteran right-hander was a two-run homer given up to Mike Zunino that tied the game at 2-2 and kept Cahill from picking up the victory. [...] (více...)

Cahill goes five innings in return from DL
(17. 5. 2018, 05:42:28, mlb.com)
A's righty Trevor Cahill lost after allowing three runs on five hits (one homer) and one walk with one strikeout in five innings against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Spin: Back from the disabled list after missing one start due to a right elbow impingement, Cahill threw 53 of his 88 pitches for strikes but was done in by a three-run first inning that featured a two-run homer off the bat of J.D. Martinez. Cahill rebounded to complete five innings, retiring each of his final nine batters, but the A's were unable to pull ahead in that time. He falls to 1-2 through his first five starts despite a 2.79 ERA and a 32-to-7 K/BB ratio over 29 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start vs. the Mariners at home on May 22.
