Nationals righty Tanner Roark received a no-decision after allowing six runs on six hits (one homer) and two walks with no strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings against the Marlins on Monday.
Spin: Monday was Roark's shortest outing of the season, marking the first time in 15 starts this year that the right-hander failed to pitch into the fifth. All six runs he allowed came during the third inning, with the final four coming on a misplaced changeup that Justin Bour hit for a grand slam. Roark has struggled in June, allowing 19 earned runs on 31 hits (five homers) in 21 1/3 innings over four starts. Tanner Roark has been inconsistent this season, but he told reporters after Wednesdayâs rough start that he identified a mechanical issue...
Tanner Roark put together a streak of three straight wins between May 24th and June 4th, snapping a four-start winless streak which stretched back three weeks to May 2nd.
In those three wins, Roark put up a 2.08 ERA, two walks, 18 Ks and a .235/.262/.333 line against in three starts 21 2â3 innings pitched.
Talking about Roarkâs inconsistency early this season, Washington Nationalsâ GM Mike Rizzo, in an interview with 106.7 the FANâs The Sports Junkies last month, chalked at least some of it up to the right-handerâs participation in the World Baseball Classic and how that affected his preparation this Spring (více...)
